Here is a listing of some of the names I call The Goddess and The God by, and is my no means a compleate list. Amost all of these names come from the Celtic areas (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Gaul, &ct). Right now I will just give the basics, but I will soon expand upon each one. :)
Anu is the Irish Mother Earth, and The Maiden aspect. A Goddess of pleanty and the greatest of all Goddesses. She is a guardian of health and fertility. Her priestesses comforted the dying, and on Midsummer fires were lit in her honor.
Her name is also spelled Ana and Catana. Her Mother aspect is Dana, or Danu, as the Crone she is Badb.
"Silver Wheel" The Goddess of the Stars, Sky, Reincarnation, and the Full Moon in Wales. The Mother aspect. Her palace is Caer Arianrhod, the Aurora Borealis. She is the keeper of the symbol of karma, The Silver Wheel of Stars, which was also known as the Oar Wheel, the boat that carried the dead to the Moonland. Her consort is Nwyvre, Firmament.
She is sometimes depicted as a weaver, which links her to lost creation myths and to magical practice, sometimes called "weaving a spell". Anianrhod can be called on to help women find their own feminine power. She can assist you in spirit contact and past life knowledge. Since her myths are associated with jumping the broom, she can be called on to bless Handfasting rites.
Irish God of the sun, fire, prosperity, crops and vegitation, and hot springs. He is celebrated at Beltaine, a time when cattle were driven through bonfires for fertility and purification. Bel is closley connected to the Druids and very similar to the Greek god Apollo. He is also connected to the Underworld.
His name is also spelled Beli, Belanos, Beltene or Belenus. Bel can help you seek knowledge of the Underworld and help purify ritual sites. He can also help protect you from your enimies.
(also Brid)Goddess of fire, the hearth and all feminine arts and crafts, Imbolic is her day. She is also a goddess of healing, prophecy, love and knowledge. She is often called the Three Mothers, or The Three Blessed Ladies of Britain. At one time in Irish history, almost all of the country was united in its praise and worship of her.
Brighid is credited with inventing the Irish form of mourning called caoine when her son was killed in battle.
Brighid can help you in any undertaking. Call on her for help in crafting, inspiration, fertility, healing and childbirth. Honor her at Imbolg.
Cernunnos is the Greek name for The Horned God. A god of Nature, the Underworld, the Astral Plane, The Great Father. His symbols are the stag, ram and bull. He is known to all Celtic areas in one form or another. Also called Herne the Hunter, Belatucadros, and Hu Gadarn (by the Druids). The woodlands are his domain.
Cerridwen is the Moon Goddess of Wales. She is often called the great Mother, Grain Goddess and The Goddess of Nature. The bard Taliesin is said to have been the son (born of) of Cerridwen, and to have tasted the brew (greal) from her cauldron of inspiration. Her symbol is a white sow and she is known for death, fertility, regeneration, inspiration, knowledge, spells and magic.
One aspect of the Triple Goddess. She is old age, death, wisdom, winter, the waning moon and all destruction before regeneration.
The Mother of all gods in Ireland, and the oldest known Irish diety. She was the first great Mother Goddess of Ireland. She gave her name to the Tuatha De Danann. Another aspect of the Morrigu. Many Celtic Pagans today view her as the sovreign, singular Great Mother who brought many things into being.
The Horned God, the Lord of the Winter, harvest, land of the dead. He represents animals, mountains, lust, powers of destruction and regeneration, and the male principle of creation.
The Lady. The female principle of creation. Goddess of fertility, the moon, summer, love, healing, the seas and water.
Cernunnos. The diety of trees and green growing things of the Earth. God of the woodlands. In old Welsh he is Arddhu, Atho or the Horned God.
King of the Fairies and the underworld. Later he became king of the Plant Annwn, or subterranean fairies. Gwynn can be called upon for strength, Passing Over rituals and seasonal rites (mostly those in fall or winter).
Heren the Hunter has become associated with Windsor Forest and has taken on the attributes of Gwynn ap Nudd with the Wild Hunt. Also Cernunnos and the Horned God.
Opener of the Gates of Life and Death. The masculine, active side of nature, The Earth Father. He is associated with the stag, bull and goat.
Mother aspect of the Goddess.
The Great Queen and Goddess of birds and horses.
